THE TEL
- About five kilometres south-west from Urim, on the west bank of the Besor river-bed, stands Tel Sheruhen. Excavated by the renoun archaelogist Sir Flanders Petrie some 80 years ago, this site is that of the Biblical city "Sheruhen". It is thought to have been the place of the last battle between the Egyptians and the Hyksos who were driven out from Egypt that they had occupied in ancient times.
Standing out above the surrounding flat plains of the Western Negev, this ancient mound dominates the landscape. Wrought with mystery and grandeur, this site has provided the inspiration and model for these paintings......
